The Hitch Hikers Guide to AQ Stat Training

So you want to be the best, huh? You want to be placed on the top 50, huh? Well then, Adventurer, you gotta train and train hard! This guide will show you the ins & outs of stat training. There’s a lot of info here, so pay attention and you might just get good enough to be placed on the top 50. Lets begin, shall we?

Break Down

First thing's first: where to go. Well that answer is right in front of you. Just talk to Twilly and select "Visit the Stat Trainers." Once Twilly has shone you the way to the training grounds, you’ll have to register with a Stat Trainer. Your choices are:

Sir Lanceler
Neberon
Grimweld
  • Sir Lanceler - Trainer: His Overall knowledge is a great asset to new Adventurers. Trains any stat to level 75.

  • Neberon - Mage Trainer: Second only to Warlock in the Mystic arts. Neberon can help you increase your Intelligence, Charisma, and Luck to a new high. Trains Int/Cha/Luck to 150.

  • Grimweld - Warrior Trainer: The deadliest warrior Battleon has ever seen. With his mighty Dragon Blade Grimweld will teach you all he knows in Strength, Dexterity, and Endurance. Trains Str/Dex/End to 150.

Confused on what stat to train? Well here's a breakdown of what each stat is and how it influences your future battles:

Strength
(Str)
Affects toHit% on melee attacks. Also affects random melee and ranged damage bonuses.
Dexterity
(Dex)
Affects toHit% on all types of attack. Also affects random ranged and melee attack bonuses, as well as a blocking skill percent bonus. Dexterity also helps you disarm any trapped chests you encounter.
Intellect
(Int)
Affects toHit% on magic attacks. Also affects random magic damage bonus. Higher Intellect also gives you additional MP per level gained.
Endurance
(End)
Affects your additional HP gained per level. The higher your endurance, the more HP you will have.
Charisma
(Cha)
Affects the amount of healing done by the "Summon Pixie" spell, and increases the damage, BTH and attack rates for pets.
Luck
(Luk)
Affects the toHit% on all types of attacks. Also affects the blocking skill percent bonus. Luck also factors into your chances of finding a trapped chest, and also the treasure chest size in the Crossroad quests.

For all you number crunchers out there, here are the bonus formulas:

Attack ToHit% Bonus
Melee AttackDEX/16 + STR/16 + LUK/20
Ranged AttackDEX/8 + LUK/20
Magic AttackDEX/16 + INT/16 + LUK/20

Random Damage Bonus
Melee DamageSTR/8
Ranged DamageSTR/16 + DEX/16
Magic DamageINT/8

Blocking Skill % Bonus
All AttacksDEX/10 + LUK/20

Training

Since this is your first time training you should chose Sir Lanceler. If you got this far, good for you. Now you just need to pay for your training:

30,420 gold! What, you thought the Trainers would work for peanuts? You will be required to make the payment after a successfully training session (a successful training is when you beat your trainer in a one on one fight).

Wait! Don’t just go off yet, there are some rules we need to discuss. First thing you need to remember is you can only have a grand total of 650 stat points. Choose your training wisely because once you’ve raised a stat you can only decrease it by fighting the Untrainer (You won't get your money back). Next thing to learn is while you can get up to 650 stat points you are only aloud to spend 5 (of the 650) stat points per xp lvl (your lvl x 5 = your available stat points).

I see you look a little confused. Let me tell you a little of my training to help clear your head a little, ok? I am a level 68 Guardian. So that means I can have a total of 340 points in my stats (68x5=340). This being the case, my stats look like this:

Str60
Dex45
Int60
End75
Cha40
Luck60
----------
Total340

leaving me with 0 pts left for my current xp lvl but 160 stat points left in my 500 stat point cap. Get it?! Well if ya don’t, have your math teacher help ya cause we have to move on. Oh and in case you haven’t noticed all stat increases are by 5 and you may only raise one stat at a time.

Throw Down

Now that all the rules and regulations are out of the way, lets get down and dirty. Yep its time to throw down with your selected stat trainer. To win this battle your gonna need some tactics. It’s not a matter of how many punches you throw but knowing your Trainer's strengths and weaknesses. Here’s some common traits you’ll see with all three trainers:

All Stats are 5 higher then yours. Every time you face your trainer, their health is greater then yours. Here’s why: A stat Trainers health is effected by a couple of factors. First is the trainers base hp. The base hp is totalled just like yours (100+{7xlvl}+ {End bonus}= base hp), oh and his End is always 5 above yours. Then they add 10% of your hp to the trainers base hp. That sounds tough huh. Well don’t get defeated just by that. To win a training session you don’t have to kill your trainer. You just need to lower their hp to ¼ of their total. *grabs your head stopping it from spinning further* relax! Here’s an example. If you’re a lvl-20 and have a End of 45 (you have 290hp) the Stat trainer would have a HP of 300. Or to make it even easier go here. (HP chart brought to you by DarkMayhem).

A trainer’s defenses vary depending on what stat you're training.

Completion

Now that you're finally in the fight with your stat trainer Always remember three things.
  1. You don’t have to kill him to defeat him, just drop his hp to ¼ of their total hp.
  2. If you lose during the fight you will not get the stat increase, nor will you have to pay for the training.
  3. If you defeat the stat trainer you get your stat increased right away and the training due will be automatically deducted from your gold.
Well that’s it. Good luck and so long.
